It won’t be long before we see John Boyega kick some kaiju butt. Legendary and Universal Pictures this week announced Pacific Rim 2, which was recently brought back to life, will be released on Feb. 23, 2018. Un-cancel the apocalypse, because we’re about to cancel it once again.

Boyega is set to play the son of Stacker Pentecost, Idris Elba’s character for the first film. It’s unclear if any of the movie’s original cast, including Charlie Hunnam and Rinki Kikuchi, will return, but Boyega’s rising star power may all the film needs to succeed

Guillermo del Toro, who created the original, will return to the sequel as a producer, with Daredevil’s Stephen S. DeKnight directing.
