Burger robots are about to begin serving up meals in San Francisco restaurants. There are two ways to look at this: Oh awesome, robots are serving me food! Look how advanced technology has become! Or you could be in the other camp: Robots are taking human jobs! All bow down to the robot overlords!. I don’t know which camp I’m in yet, but this is weird.
Tech Insider said this week that Momentum Machines is ready to open the first restaurant with robots serving up burgers. The news outlet noticed a listing on Craigslist searching for a “Restaurant Generalist” to work in Momentum Machines’ first restaurant that will feature “remarkable new advances in technology that enable the automatic creation of impossibly delicious burgers at prices everyone can afford.” I mean, microwaves and Burger King’s “flame broilers” can do that, too, but apparently Momentum Machines can do it even better.
No word on when the restaurant will open, but it seems like the doors may open soon given that the restaurant is starting to hire employees.
Look, I’m down for a good burger, whether it’s made by a human or a box of circuits with an OLED smile. No robot can top my grill skill, though. Seriously, you should have seen my Porterhouse steak last night.
