We haven’t seen a good working iOS jailbreak in ages, but that may change with iOS 10. Pangu, who has worked to jailbreak earlier versions of iOS, recently showed off a demo of jailbreak tool Cydia running on iOS 10.
The demo occurred during the MOSEC conference in Shanghai and was first reported by Stephen Chan, who attended a talk by the hacking group. Pangu showed Cydia “working and running on iOS 10.” Chan said some of the rumors swirling around the conference suggested that the Pangu team will release the current iOS 9.3.2 “jailbreak very soon within the week.”
There hasn’t been much evidence supporting that claim, other than Pangu noting that it has noticed some privacy problems inside of iOS 9.3.2. Keep in mind, however, that the fourth beta of iOS 9.3.3 just launched to developers, which means the final release of that is just around the corner. You might not want to upgrade if that hits before the jailbreak.
In any case, this is great news for jailbreakers looking forward to breaking out of the iOS walled garden.
