The BlackBerry Hamburg has leaked out ahead of its official unveiling in a purported press photo posted on Twitter. The device has a metal frame, glass panels front and back, and bears a striking resemblance to another Android device.
The photo posted by @the_malignant only shows Hamburg from the back, but it looks an awful lot like the Alcatel Idol 4. The BlackBerry does appear to have a more premium finish, but it shares the same overall design; even the camera placement is the same.
Earlier this month, rumors claimed BlackBerry is actually teaming up with TCL Communication — parent company of Alcatel — to build its next Android handsets. That could explain why Hamburg looks so similar to an Alcatel device.
According to the poster, BlackBerry Hamburg will actually be called BlackBerry Neon when it makes its official debut. Previous leaks have suggested it will be powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and Adreno 405 graphics.
Neon is also expected to offer a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 7-megapixel front-facing camera, and a microSD card slot.
We don’t yet know when Neon will make its official debut, but as BlackBerry has already confirmed, its next Androids will be priced between $300 and $400 to make them more competitive.
