Yesterday we learned the iPhone 7 (or whatever Apple calls its next smartphone) could come in a new dark gray color option, contradicting earlier claims that the device would be available in blue. It didn’t take long for designers around the world to respond with new concept designs reflecting the latest iPhone 7 rumor.
Israeli tech journalist Shai Mizrachi was quick to speak up on Twitter, claiming he’d already seen the black iPhone 7’s black backplate. He also offered up a render, showing the dark design along with the repositioned antenna bands and updated camera we already expect.

At around the same time, Hong Kong-based AppleiDesigner was sharing its own polished concept design featuring a stunning dark gray iPhone 7. Surprisingly, the same Instagram account had actually published several similar concepts before the news broke. These were originally meant to depict next year’s iPhone 8, but based on the latest rumors, those concepts may end up being closer to the device Apple unveils this fall instead
Beyond a new color option and a few superficial changes, the iPhone 7 is also expected to ditch the headphone jack, potentially leaving room for a second bottom-firing speaker grill. It should also offer some upgraded internal hardware, including a new A10 processor, more RAM and better storage options.
The iPhone 7 is expected to debut this September when Apple typically unveils its latest flagship smartphone, but with mass production allegedly kicking off we should see even more leaks start to surface pretty soon.
