Fans have been petitioning for Square Enix to release the PS Vita version of Adventures of Mana in the Western world, but, for months, they have only been met with silence. The smart phone version is still available, but Square Enix has given no hints about a Vita release since it said it would look into it.
However, without warning, the game will be released today in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary! No hype, no waiting period. It it’s just… there! Square Enix has confirmed that the game is available today.
Square has been somewhat active on the Vita recently, confirming that games like Dragon Quest Builders and Romancing SaGa 2 will be getting localized ports. It’s a strane twist from the typical negligence it shows the handheld. Adventures of Mana is just another in the long list of crowd pleasers Square Enix wants to get out of the way, and hopefully it is a sign that the company has not given up on the platform.
I still want SaGa: Scarlet Grace and my PSOne Classic versions of SaGa Frontier and Brave Fencer Musashi! You hear me, Square Enix!?
Adventures of Mana is a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure, the first game in Square’s classic Mana series. It was well received by fans and critics alike for a smartphone game. It’ll be available as soon as the PlayStation Store updates (if it hasn’t already) at the price of $13.99.
