Another year, another round of Russian routlette with the Sonic the Hedghog franchise. This isn’t just any year, though. This is Sonic’s 25th anniversary, and to celebrate, SEGA is taking it all back to its roots.
Maybe. Team Sonic will be behind the new title, and as far was the logo is concerned, the studio is going to be kicking it old-school. Classic chubby Sonic has always been cooler than the sleek and skinny one, and the design choice is just a hint that Team Sonic will be looking to the originals for inspiration.
We don’t have any confirmed details just yet, but Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka did state that his team would be ready to reveal more information during the 25th anniversary celebration on July 22.
In the meantime, SEGA also revealed some of the original character art for its most iconic characters from the series. Be sure to check them out, and stay tuned for more in about a month.
