Marvel could partner with Fox for a cinematic crossover

What was your favorite part of Captain America: Civil War? Most people would say it was seeing Spider-Man finally join Marvel Cinematic Universe, a move that’s already paid dividends for Sony. Now, with Sony planning an entire universe of its own around the web slinger (with Marvel’s help, of course), could Fox be getting jealous of Sony’s newfound alliance?

According to Matt Key of Collider Heroes, there have been discussions about the possibility of Fox teaming up with Marvel though don’t expect any results in the near future.

Here’s the pertinent quote:

I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds, that Fox and Marvel have… kind of talked, but not really, but like there’s interest from Fox, like, “Oh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually cool, like, maybe…’ We’re years away from that ever possibly happening… but I think that’s what it would take… Fox joining hands with Marvel…

The possibility of a team-up sounds tenuous at best, especially since Fox’s X-Men movies are already popular in their own right; it’s not as if they’re struggling to create good content, at least not in the way Sony was with Spider-Man. However, an eventual reboot years from now could be on the table.

We’re filing this one under “unlikely” but who knows what’ll happen. We never thought we’d see Spider-Man swinging around with the Avengers, yet here we are.
