Reports of a dark blue iPhone 7 hit the web earlier this month, claiming the new color option was set to replace Apple’s space gray design. Now a follow-up leak reveals that the rumored blue iPhone 7 is actually just a darker gray.
Japanese site Macotakara shared the news with AppleInsider, correcting its own earlier report. It turns out the original source simply mistook the dark gray color for blue. The report adds that the iPhone 7 is so dark it’s almost black, though it’s still closer to gray.
Apple hasn’t offered a black iPhone for years. That last device to feature the dark design was the iPhone 5. After that, the company introduced space gray for the iPhone 5s, which was also Cupertino’s first gold-colored handset.
The iPhone 7 is expected to offer a few other visual changes as well. The headphones jack is apparently on the way out, and the device could feature a redesigned rear camera. The iPhone 7 Plus may also introduce a dual camera lens that offers optical zoom and other new photography features.
Apple’s next iPhone may not be the huge change you’re probably waiting for. Rumor has it the company is saving its big redesign for 2017.
