Anki’s cute new personal robot looks like a Pixar character

Anki broke onto the scene a few years ago with Overdrive, a smart race car set that combined toys and artificial intelligence to create something new and exciting. Now the company is back with Cozmo, a smart toy robot designed with help from former Pixar animators.

Cozmo actually looks like a mix of Wall-E and Eve, the two main robots from Pixar’s sci-fi film Wall-E. It packs a mechanical arm like Wall-E that can pick up small objects and push things over but features a sleek design like Eve. It can also express a wide range of emotions thanks to a face display and a dynamic soundtrack.

The robot’s smart software will kick in as you soon as you turn it on. All you need is an Android or iOS device to get started, and the more you use Cozmo the smarter it gets. Cozmo will even recognize your face and get excited if he hasn’t seen you in a while.

Under the hood, Cozmo packs more than 300 separate parts. That includes four transmissions and 40-50 gears. It’s small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and roam around your desk while you work.

You can pre-order Cozmo now for $159.99 and orders are expected to ship in October. The company also plans to sell the new robot in stores for $179.99 two days after pre-orders ship. If you’re already sold on this adorable robot, hit the link below to reserve one now.
