One of the big surprises during E3 2016 was Spider-Man‘s appearance. Insomniac Games, the once PlayStation-exclusive developer behind the likes of Ratchet & Clank, is working on the currently subtitle-less Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4.
The video you see at the head of this post is the same one that played during Sony’s E3 presser. It looks incredible, and fans assumed it was pre-rendered footage.
Not the case. Responding to fan questioning on Twitter concerning whether the clip was in-game or running on the confirmed PlayStation 4K, Insomniac offered official clarification.
@iHuGi in game/engine/real-time. Running on current PS4 hardware, not the high-end PS4

That’s awesome news.
Spider-Man games have been all over the place. Most gamers would agree that the best are Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man, but we’re talking about titles around a decade or so in age. If Insomniac does this right, we could be on the bring of a resurgence for web-slinging games.
I can’t wait. Spider-Man is awesome.
