I was really, really hoping Ubisoft would show Beyond Good & Evil 2 during their press conference at E3 last week. They didn’t, and it’s been eight years since we’ve actually seen anything official for the title.
It’s being helmed by Michel Ancel, and the last really concrete thing we heard was that the newest generation of consoles was the target for its release.
YouTube’s Geoff Keighley spoke with Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot about the sequel to 2003’s Beyond Good & Evil. Guillemot explained that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still, in fact, in development.
“It’s still on the way. It’s something that at one point you will see, yes.”
Keighley asked Guillemot to elaborate on whether or not Ancel and/or his team are still actively developing the game.
“It’s difficult to say actually. Michel is working on it but he’s doing two games at the same time – he’s doing Wild at the same time. It’s coming along but he has to spend time on it so we can see it faster.”
So, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still a thing that’s coming. Whether or not Ancel and team are actively working on in alongside Wild is “difficult to say,” according to Guillemot.
Hey, at least it hasn’t been cancelled. The fact that the CEO is willing to go on record saying it’s being worked on is huge. We might actually see this vaporware some day.
