NieR: Automata delayed into 2017, new E3 2016 trailer is exceptional

Square Enix, probably already caving under a busy second half of 2016, has decided to push one of its more niche titles into the following year. NieR Automata, created in collaboration with Platinum Games, will not be released until 2017.

Don’t worry, you still have Final Fantasy XV, Star Ocean 5, I Am Setsuna, Dragon Quest VII, World of Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest Builders to look forward to. Don’t be so glum, this is the best Square Enix fans have had it in nearly two decades!

Accompanying the news of NieR: Automata’s delay is a sleek and sexy trailer that should be enough to hold fans over. When you’re a sequel to a cult-favorite, expectations are going to be impossibly high for a very small crowd, but I think those who love the original will be able to get behind this one.

NieR: Automata will be released for the PlayStation 4 in 2017.
