Wozniak on Gear VR: “It’s so real… it gets me emotional”

We don’t yet know if Apple is working on a virtual reality headset – it would be downright silly if the company wasn’t at least exploring entering the market – but Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is impressed by it. Woz recently commented on his experience with Samsung’s Gear VR, a relatively basic set compared to the Oculus or HTC Vive.

On VR in general, Wozniak is impressed by where we stand today. “Virtual reality is going to have a big future,” Wozniak said during an event recently, according to TechRepublic. “It could die like 3D TV. But there will be a lot of games possible and that’s enough to make the market work. Today the smartest electronic chips are made for video games.”

The co-founder also specifically discussed the Gear VR. “It takes you to other worlds. It’s so real. It’s everywhere you look. That one gets me emotional.”

Is Apple working on something similar? Woz said he “hopes so.”
