Microsoft announced this week that Cyanogen OS 13.1 is now rolling out to the OnePlus One with a bunch of Microsoft “mods”that tweak some of the default software on the phone. Specifically, you’ll see mods for Skype, OneNote, Hyperlapse and Cortana in the update.
“With the Skype mod in Cyanogen OS 13.1 you can quickly and easily start Skype conversations directly from the Cyanogen phone app, and seamlessly switch from a cellular voice call to a Skype video call when you call a friend with a Cyanogen or Android device,” Microsoft explained. You can also view your Skype contacts right in the default Cyanogen phone application. Another mod for Cortana lets you control the camera with your voice. A simple command “take a selfie” lets you snap and share a picture. Another mod, for OneNote, lets you take quick notes by swiping down from the top of the screen within any app.
There was some concern about Microsoft possibly muddying up the OnePlus One’s Cyanogen experience, but this all sounds pretty useful to me. OnePlus users should find the update and some of the mods available now, with others to follow in the coming weeks.
