World of Final Fantasy was first announced last year at E3 2015, and one week before the convention this year, it has an official release date. The game will be available on Oct. 25 worldwide, and it will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Those who pre-order will get special access to the Sephiroth summon spell.
Along with the announcement, we also have a trailer loaded with familiar faces given the “chibi” treatment. These adorable legends of Final Fantasy are just lining up to be cutie-fied. Who can name them all? I’ll give it my best, in order of appearance:
The only ones I can’t place are the girl at the :59 second mark and the girl at the 1:59 mark. Maybe they aren’t traditional characters. Their outfits and hair don’t ring a bell at all.
Anyway, the game looks like a lot of fun, and I like how the characters can switch in and out of their different forms on the fly. Hopefully, more familiar faces are tapped to join the fray. Final Fantasy VI’s playboy King Edgar doesn’t usually get represented in projects like these, so I’ll take that as a sign that Square Enix is digging deep for lesser known fan-favorites.
World of Final Fantasy will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on Oct. 25.
