MacBook Pro 2016 concept shows morphing OLED panel

Rumor has it Apple may soon introduce a new MacBook Pro with a special dedicated OLED panel above the keyboard. This panel could be used for any number of things, primarily serving as the F-keys, but also perhaps morphing to allow for other input possibilities.

One 9to5Mac reader, having read reports of the OLED panel, recently crafted the concept MacBook Pro 2016 that you see above. It shows a single bar with touch-enabled buttons for the F-keys, allowing users to adjust the brightness, switch modes, pause and display media, adjust the volume and turn the MacBook on and off. It sure looks better than the row of buttons on the current MacBook Pro, but it may serve other purposes. If you’re accessing Siri, for example, the panel could change to show that she’s waiting for voice input. Or perhaps it could display a row of rules in another app, like Photoshop.

The possibilities seem endless, especially if Apple opens up the OLED bar to developers for inclusion into a variety of apps. Rumor has it the new MacBook Pro 2016 could debut as early as WWDC 2016 next week.
