Rockstar’s Agent still alive, trademark filing suggests

In the world of vaporware, one of several games still flying in and out of the rumor mill at an irregular interview is Agent. Announced by Rockstar and Take-Two way back in 2007, this was supposed to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

After that, we heard a bit about the game during E3 2009. It was to be a Cold War shooter with heavy spy and espionage themes. It was set in the late 1970s.

In 2011, Take-Two offered up again that it was still in development, but Agent hasn’t been heard of in an official capacity since.

Now, Take-Two has extended the trademark of the game once more. They filed the extension to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the extension was granted on June 1, 2016.

Are they still making the game? Who knows. They are, however, willing to keep paying for trademark extensions. Abandoning the trademark would mean more, in my mind, but it looks like Take-Two is at least still interested in protecting the IP and name. Whether or not Rockstar is actually working on this thing remains to be seen.

Stay tuned.
