Xbox One gets a big price cut ahead of E3

Microsoft’s elected to slash the price of the Xbox One ahead of this month’s E3. The system comes in a bunch of different bundles at different price points, but they’ve all been slashed by $50.

Microsoft did not cite a reason for the reduction. It is, however, interesting that this cut wasn’t held until E3 proper. Why not use presser time to announce a cut, right?

The fact that the cut comes now lends a bit more credence to the rumors of new Xbox One hardware. Most recently, we’ve heard of two new hardware revisions: one’s slim while the other is more powerful. Maybe Microsoft plans to spend time talking about these at E3 instead of the price cut.

Whatever the case may be, we’ll know in a matter of weeks.
