Fable rises from the ashes as a crowd-funded collectible card game

Fable 2

The closure of Lionhead and the destruction of the Fable franchise is still ringing hard with fans, but there is hope for the goofy fantasy series to see the light of day in some fashion. Several ex-Lionhead staffers have joined together to form Flaming Fowl, a new studio dedicated to making Fable Fortune, a digital card game in the vein of Hearthstone.

Of course, this is not exactly what Fable fans are looking for in the form of condolences, but from the way I see it, it’s the only chance the series has to stay afloat at this point.

The game will not be able to launch without enthusiasm or fan participation, either. Flaming Fowl stated in its interview with IGN that it intendeds to crowdfund the game with a very achievable goal of 250,000 British pounds (~$365,900), and it is expecting for the game to launch in before 2017.

According to developers, the game has already been in development since 2014 and was originally envisioned as a side-project for Fable 2. It will feature PvP modes, daily quests, and general basic play. Basically, all the bells and whistles of Hearthstone.

The Kickstarter campaign launches at 10 AM today, so be sure to check it out if you are interested, especially if you are a Fable fan still on the mend.
