Sprint announced a buy-one get-one sale on Friday and, turns out, AT&T has a huge one going on as well.
The carrier said Friday that customers interested in one of the following phones will be able to buy one and receive credit toward a second: Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy Note 5, LG G5, LG V10, Lumia 950, HTC One A9 and Kyocera DuraFace. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are also included, AT&T said in an email to TechnoBuffalo, though you won’t find them mentioned in the release at the end of this post.
Keep in mind that you’re not necessarily walking into the store, dropping down enough cash for one phone, and walking out with two devices. It’s actually kind of convoluted.
The carrier said customers need to buy both phones using its AT&T Next installment plans. The second device needs to be on either an AT&T Next 30-month plan or a 24-month equipment installment plan. It also needs to be a new device. And both need to be added to a Mobile Share Value plan or an Unlimited Plan. After you’ve done all of this, you’ll start to receive a credit on your bill (about 3 months later, AT&T said). The credit for “up to $695 [will be] spread out over 30 monthly bill cycles.” In other words, you’ll pay for both devices and then, assuming the “free” one is worth $695, you’ll get about a $23 credit in your bill for 30 months.
Yeah, you need a lawyer and an accountant with you in the store to understand those kind of terms. Kinda not that free, but not terrible if you’re out buying a couple of new phones and adding a new line anyway.
