Final Fantasy XV environment trailer proves Square Enix still the best

Final Fantasy is often highly regarded for its riveting stories, complex characters, deep lore, and stunning graphics and production values. Sadly, one element that tends to get swept under everything else it does well is the world-building. Not many series have created such a vast array of environments and locations as Final Fantasy has, and Final Fantasy XV is looking to carry on the tradition.

There really is nothing else that looks like Final Fantasy XV on the market. Generic “high fantasy” doesn’t fit the bill, and the typical sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, and standard JRPG fare all come up short of this game’s originality.

A new trailer and batch of concept art for the game released by Square Enix hopefully shines a light on just how far ahead of the curve Square Enix’s team is when it comes to shaping entire planets.

Nothing else compares. Square Enix is pulling out all the stops on this one, and it just looks like an end game for everyone. Who’s going to step up and try to bring down this Goliath?

Final Fantasy XV launches for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 30.
