Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 announced, coming stateside this year

Bandai Namco hit pay-dirt with Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Finally, a studio had cranked out a game that not only could thrive on the Dragon Ball Z brand, but could also dare to call itself a really solid action game. Nothing revolutionary or brilliant, but when you get a “solid” Dragon Ball Z game, you could do a lot worse.

That leaves us ready for the sequel. A countdown timer over at Bandai Namco’s official website has revealed that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is in development at DIMPS, the same quality studio that made the first game, and the game won’t be held back by the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this time around. Indeed, this will be the next-gen Dragon Ball game we’ve been waiting for.

For those who played Dragon Ball Xenoverse, what would you like to see added? It goes without saying that the game needs a bigger roster with less throwaway characters and more fan favorites like Tien and Yamcha. And please, more Chiaotzu! That poor guy needs some screen time.

As for the character creation system, nothing needs to be overhauled that greatly. Just more options, please.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this year.
