Disney’s new HTC Vive app lets you explore its best new movies

Disney released a new free app for the HTC Vive this week, dropping Disney Movies VR into the Steam Store. The app puts all the company’s virtual reality creations in one convenient place, though for now there’s not much to do in Disney’s virtual world.

Disney Movies VR offers a handful of 3D clips from some of the company’s recent hits. For now, that includes The Jungle BookCaptain America: Civil War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There’s also a beautiful animated lobby, which places you in a virtual Disneyland castle where you can pick from different themed worlds.

Early online reviews note that the app isn’t really designed with the Vive technology in mind. There’s no support for the sensor-packed controller wands, and only the lobby offers room-scale support.

Still, there’s still plenty of potential here as Disney continues to expand its VR offerings. If you have an HTC Vive and 3GB of storage space to spare you can grab it now to see what the company has to offer.
