LG Action CAM LTE unveiled, like a GoPro with live-streaming

LG announced the LG Action CAM LTE on Thursday, a new action camera that can stream content live over 4G LTE networks. It’s like a fully connected GoPro.

The Action CAM LTE features a 12.3-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 4GB of local storage — though LG says it’s for the “OS only” — and a microSD card slot. It’s capable of recording UHD at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps or 720p at 120fps, and can live stream 720p video at 30fps.

That means you should be able to grab your camera, hit the slopes, and stream the entire run down the mountain for live viewers tuning in on sites like YouTube. And, since it’s IP67 resistant against water and dust, it won’t be a big deal when you take a spill.

If you’re not into action sports, the remote access feature, which will arrive in a software update after launch, will enable the Action CAM LTE to serve as a dash cam or an in-home security camera, too.

The LG Action CAM LTE will launch next month. LG has not yet announced pricing.
