Instagram announced a big new refresh on Wednesday, following reports that suggested it was doing so. Perhaps the biggest front-facing change, at least the one longtime Instagram users will notice first, is a brand new Instagram icon. The company also refreshed the icons for Hyperlapse, Layout and Boomerang, its other complementary applications.
Don’t worry about the refresh if you liked the way Instagram was – there aren’t huge sweeping changes. “The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app,” Instagram said. You’ll note the new black and white color scheme, which seems to make the photos – the most colorful part of the whole app – pop.
