I wonder if Activision still thinks all the negativity surrounding the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal trailer is a good thing… Its number of dislikes on YouTube puts it among the most disliked in the world.
In fact, as of this morning, it’s the fifth most disliked video on all of YouTube with more than 1.5 million thumbs down. Its dislike ratio is pretty ridiculous in two ways. First, with 15 million views and 1.5 million dislikes, one in every 10 viewers actually takes their chance to click the thumbs down. The most disliked video, for reference, is a Justin Bieber music video with 6 million dislikes spread over 1.35 billion views. Infinite Warfare‘s percentage of viewers to click dislike? Roughly 10%. Bieber’s song “Baby?” Roughly 0.5%.
At this point, it’s hard to tell whether these dislikes for Infinite Warfare are legitimate or simply the internet climbing aboard a hate train to be a part of the cultural moment. It’d be impossible to tell, quite honestly.
For what it’s worth, I love the idea of a Call of Duty with space-traveling weapons and tech. I also think the trailer was bogus, complete with its shots, poor cliché song choice and tone. It’s just not a good trailer. Bad enough to get into the top 5 most disliked on YouTube? I’m not sure about that.
