We had a rough idea of what was coming when promotional posters for Battlefield 1 leaked earlier today, but now we have the official trailer. Battlefield 1 takes place during World War 1. The trailer, filmed in-engine on Xbox One (though not in-game) emphasizes bi-planes and horseback riding as two ways to get around the battlefield this time around.
It doesn’t appear to be any kind of alternate history or anything like that, and instead will continue the focus on realism the series has emphasized.
The trailer also shows off environmental destruction, and hints at flamethrowers and mustard gas joining the fray. Melee weapons will play a bigger role, with a sword shown in the trailer and maces and shovels mentioned explicitly by the developer.
Battlefield 1 releases October 21 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
