Verizon has begun shipping HTC 10 units for those who pre-ordered, and many should receive their shiny new smartphone before the end of the week. Meanwhile, it seems those who claimed theirs directly from HTC are still waiting.
“I preordered my 10 a couple hours after the preorder went up, I just checked it, and Verizon has started shipping preorders,” confirms one customer on Reddit. “Mine is shipped with a tracking number from UPS Ground, so I assume it will be here Thursday.”
Given that Verizon originally promised pre-orders would arrive on May 5, this lines up nicely with that promise. However, those who ordered an unlocked handset directly from HTC are still waiting for their unit to move.
HTC has promised that pre-orders will ship this week, and lots of customers report that their credit cards have been charged, so it would appear that something is happening. Some say they have contacted HTC and were told they would receive a tracking number soon.
Early reviews of the HTC 10 are promising; it is shaping up to be the Taiwanese company’s best smartphone in years. Critics have praised its colorful display, its high-end aluminum design, its speedy software, and even its camera.
