Apple Music’s major iOS 10 overhaul detailed in new report

Rumor has it Apple is working to completely revamp the Apple Music app in a better effort to compete with Spotify and in an effort to attract new users. 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman has the scoop on what to expect from the new update.

Gurman said Apple will move away from its more colorful current user interface to something that uses more black and white, while also increasing the focus on album art. Also, Apple is apparently going to put a much bigger emphasis on catering music to individual users, with a focus on “increasing usage of the feature,” Gurman explained. This is actually one of my favorite features inside Apple Music, and it’s still far too buried for my tastes.

3D Touch will also reportedly be used throughout the application, though that’s one option that Apple will need to highlight if it actually wants users to take advantage of it. 3D Touch is still hidden far too often.

Gurman said we can expect to hear more about the changes to Apple Music at WWDC where it will be discussed along with iOS 10, the next major version of the operating system.
