Don’t throw out those old headphones just yet!

Apple is generally expected to ditch its headphone jack with the upcoming iPhone 7. The rumor has picked up so much momentum that we’re almost ready to accept it as fact, but a new leak suggests the rumors could be wrong.

NoWhereElse¬†picked up a leaked image of an alleged iPhone 7 component, showing the internal hardware for the phone’s Lightning port and what looks a lot like a headphone jack. The site notes that it can’t guarantee the reliability of these leaks, which first surfaced on Chinese social network Weibo. However, they do appear to hold up under scrutiny.

The alleged iPhone 7 part gets compared to internal components from the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The new Lightning port assembly has some clear differences with older versions, suggesting this really is a new component. Then again, it could just be a fake from some unofficial Chinese manufacturer.

It’s also possible Apple could keep the traditional headphone jack for the iPhone 7, but remove it with the higher end iPhone 7 Plus or even the rumored “iPhone 7 Pro.” That might be a smart move if the company wants to start phasing out the old 3.5mm port without upsetting all its customers at once.
