The next game from Dark Souls dev could be on PlayStation VR

We know that Dark Souls dev From Software has finished with that series and moved onto their next project. But we don’t know what it’s going to be.

We do, however, have an idea of where we’ll be able to play it.

An unlisted video on the official From Software YouTube channel popped up on Reddit this week that goes through the company’s varied releases over the years, from their Armored Core franchise back in the days of the PlayStation up through Dark Souls III.

The final entry after their latest game is the most interesting part, though. A title card for their next game, right now just referred to as their “next title” shows a release set for 2017. The platforms they expect the game to appear on include PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation VR.

That last one is the biggest surprise. From’s creative director Hidetaka Miyazaki has talked about wanting to break away from fantasy themes previously to try something new. PlayStation VR would definitely fit the bill on the second count and might lead directly toward the first.

As much as I love Dark Souls, I’m excited to see what Miyazaki works on next. I wouldn’t expect to see the game at E3, but at the rate the developer’s been releasing games, anything’s possible.
