No, you can’t buy Modern Warfare Remastered separately

Modern Warfare Remastered

“Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?,” a user asks into the abyss.

“No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered,” Activision answers on its FAQ for the upcoming remaster of the exceptionally popular shooter from a generation ago.

That’s right, the only way users can get access to Modern Warfare Remastered is by owning Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the next entry in the annual shooter series. The two made their official debut this morning after a ton of leaks spoiled Infinity Ward and Activision’s surprise.

Want a little extra salt in that wound? It sounds like, currently, the only way to even get Modern Warfare Remastered is by coughing up the extra scratch for the special editions. Here’s the FAQ again.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available through the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

The cheapest edition of Infinite Warfare is the Legacy version, and that will sell for $79.99.

Here’s the trailer for Infinite Warfare. It’s last bit includes footage from Modern Warfare Remastered.
