We’re in the homestretch for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which arrives on May 6. Not only will that kick off the summer blockbuster season, but it’ll set in motion a lot of new storylines for Phase 3, which also includes a new movie for Thor, Black Panther and Doctor Strange.
Before that, however, we have some updates to get through. Rest assured we’ll have our own coverage for Civil War when the movie drops next week here in the U.S.
Inhumans off the schedule
You can’t win them all. Marvel Studios has been cagey about bringing the Inhumans to the big screen, and although its release has always been up in the air, it’s still kind of a surprise to hear the project has been dropped indefinitely.
With the Inhumans already playing a critical part in Agents of SHIELD, it seems unlikely a movie will ever get made. For now, the project has been shelved as Marvel focuses its attention on projects such as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War. [Collider]
Marvel in control of Spider-Man
Speaking of Spider-Man, it will be Marvel Studios that’s in charge of making the creative decisions for the upcoming reboot, according to Kevin Feige. That means Sony is mostly taking a back seat in this whole venture, allowing Marvel to do what it does best. “So far so good on that movie,” Feige said. [HeyUGuys]
Game of Thrones photos
Want a sneak peek of the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones? HBO has released several new images from episode 2, titled Home, giving us a look at Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Snydow), and more. Check them out in the gallery above.
Much more work went into creating Deadpool’s mask than you think. They didn’t just stitch together some fabric and call it a day; plenty of engineering was involved in order to create a mask that was both expressive and comfortable. You can watch how they did it in the video above.
The Jungle Book
You’ve probably heard by now that The Jungle Book was filmed on a soundstage in Los Angeles, but you wouldn’t know it by watching the final product. Now, a new video has been released that provides a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
There were rumors Mantis would appear in the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, and a new drawing by director James Gunn appears to confirm the character’s appearance. “A certain new character may be obvious, the others not quite so much,” Gunn said. [JamesGunn]
Who knew Thor had such comedic timing? When Chris Hemsworth appears in the Ghostbusters reboot this summer, he won’t play a norse God or some macho action hero. Instead, he’ll play a goofy receptionist Hemsworth describes as a “big, dumb puppy dog.” See for yourself in the video above.
Disney live-action movies
Whether you like them or not, Disney is going hard in the paint on live-action remakes, setting dates for more live-action movies. Among them will be a Jungle Book sequel. You can see all the dates and projects Disney working on in the source link. [EW]
Wet Hot America Summer sequel
If you don’t “get” Wet Hot American Summer, you have no reason to be excited about Netflix greenlighting a sequel. The show was originally a cult movie, and was later made into an original for Netflix, which wound up being a prequel despite the actors being much, much older. Now, however, there’s going to be a proper sequel, revealing how all the characters turned out following that fateful summer in 1981.
Goosebumps spawned several books during its reign in the 90s, and it turns out there could be several movies, too. Following the success of the first movie, Sony is apparently looking to make a sequel, presumably with the original cast involved. [HollywoodReporter]
Zombieland 2, long in development purgatory, will reportedly begin filming this summer. It has been seven years since the original came out, so the sequel is certainly a long time coming. Ruben Fleischer is apparently returning to direct, which is a start. Does that mean the original cast will also return? [BloodyDisgusting]
Good news, Batman fans. Not only will Ben Affleck write, direct and star in the upcoming Batman movie, but he’ll apparently have full creative control over the project. Considering the actor has won Oscars for both directing and screenwriting, that bodes well for the future of the character which, behind Wonder Woman’s introduction, had the […]
Over the past few months, all of the attention has been on Spider-Man and his big debut in Captain America: Civil War. But don’t forget that another big character, Black Panther, is making his debut in the film—and judging by this new clip, he’s going to be awesome. Played by Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther is […]
It’s happening: I get to write The Punisher in italics. When he was just a character on Marvel’s Daredevil show, he was just the Punisher, but now Marvel has ordered a spin-off series starring the gun-toting vigilante, so he’s The Punisher. It makes sense. Even before we’d seen Daredevil season 2, there was already rumor that he’d get his own show. Then […]
Batman: The Killing Joke is one of the most iconic DC comics of all time, and the animated film adaption may be just as impressive. We already know that the upcoming movie will be rated R. Now the first full trailer is out and it definitely doesn’t pull any punches. The trailer opens with Batman as he visits […]
Forget Daisy Ridley. According to Hollywood Reporter, Alicia Vikander has been picked to play Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider reboot. Vikander previously appeared in The Man From UNCLE and Ex Machina, and won an Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl. No other details about the project are known at this point—apparently […]
Thirty years ago, Top Gun flew into theaters and on its way to becoming one of the most iconic films of the 1980’s. To commemorate the 30th Anniversary, Paramount wants to give away copies of the movie that launched Tom Cruise into superstardom to four lucky TechnoBuffalo readers. The Limited Edition Blu-ray Combo Steelbook features the […]
After Iron Man 3 wrapped up, it seemed unlikely we’d get another movie extending the trilogy. However, with Robert Downey Jr. showing up in the MCU outside of his original contract—he’ll appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming—it appears the actor is interesting in continuing his role as billionaire playboy Tony Stark. During a segment on ABC’s Nightline, […]
Ever since Mads Mikkelsen was cast on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, people have speculated about how he’d be involved. Given his past roles in Hollywood—he was Le Chiffre in Casino Royale—people naturally assumed he’d be playing a villain, but it turns out his role is much more complicated than that. While appearing on […]
Save yourself the 153 minutes and watch the best part of Batman v Superman right here. As part of the film’s release overseas, Japanese website Eiga released the clip above, showing the exact moment Wonder Woman arrives on the scene and starts kicking butt. Not only is it the most memorable moment in the movie, […]
In just over a week, Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters, revealing what happens when Earth’s mightiest heroes go head-to-head. But let’s be honest, the only part we care about is seeing Spider-Man (Tom Holland) make his MCU debut—something we’ve been waiting over a year to see. We’ve already seen the web-slinger make a […]
