Hot Lava is the video game version of that “the floor is lava” thing you did as a kid

Currently in development by Klei, makers of Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja, is a game called Hot Lava. This project is seemingly a video game version of the game we all played as children, “the floor is lava.”

You know, you’d stand on furniture and try to make your way from point to point around your house without touching the ground. The ground, of course, is red hot lava that will totally melt you and end the game. I know I used to do this all the time.

There’s not much out there about the game, other than that it will feature multiplayer and environments that kids would typically play this game in. Stuff like living rooms, classrooms and bedrooms. It also looks to feature crazy cave environments, too.

You can scour through the screenshots in the gallery above. It looks pretty neat so far, and I’ll be paying attention to it based on its concept and developer. Both could make something magical happen with this one.
