If you’re eligible for a free Windows 10 upgrade, you’ll be all too familiar with Microsoft’s upgrade prompt, which pops up frequently on your desktop to remind you Windows 10 is here. It’s frustrating for the average user, but even more so for TV stations, it seems.
KCCI 8 News Meteorologist Metinka Slater found this out on Wednesday morning, when the popup appeared during a live weather broadcast, blocking almost the entire map. Fortunately, Slater took it all in her stride and laughed it off.
Microsoft has been criticized for its aggressive upgrade prompts for Windows 10, which have plagued almost everyone who uses an older version of the company’s operating system that’s eligible for a free upgrade.
The company has also come under fire for automatically pushing Windows 10 files to PCs, taking up precious storage space, even after users have stated they do not want to upgrade.
Microsoft has previously stated that it wants Windows 10 to reach 1 billion devices within three years, and it’s great that the company made the upgrade free for most users in an effort to achieve that. But it’s a shame it’s being forced so aggressively on those who don’t want it.
Are you still being plagued by Windows 10 upgrade prompts?
