Star Wars: Episode VIII to feature an epic royal cameo

Last week, Prince William and Prince Harry stopped by the Star Wars: Episode VIII set to meet the actors and show their support for the Resistance. But it was all a ploy as the two princes then defected over to the Dark Side, dressing up as stormtroopers for uncredited cameo appearances in the upcoming sequel.

According to The Guardian, the princess filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base.

“The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of stormtroopers enter—two of whom are William and Henry,” a source told the paper.

Normally that wouldn’t be huge news, but a) they’re royalty and b) Daniel Craig made a similar cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which wound up being one of the movie’s funniest moments. You wouldn’t know it unless someone told you, but Craig played the stormtrooper guarding Rey in Kylo Ren’s interrogation room. As you know, Rey uses her Jedi mind tricks on him to escape.

It’s unclear if Princes William and Harry will have any larger involvement other than to stand inside of an elevator beside Benicio del Toro, but it’s cool to know who the faces are beneath the stormtrooper helmets. Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently scheduled for a December 2017 release.
