Nioh demo lets you choose between good graphics or a steady framerate

Wow, Team Ninja’s Nioh is going about solving the old dilemma of graphics vs frame-rate by putting the responsibility totally on the players! In the demo, which is available from today, the choice is sitting right there in the options menu.

Do you want the game to look good or do you want it to run smoothly? Granted, this is an alpha build and hardly a finished project, but it’s just so refreshing to see a publisher address the issue so blatantly.

Typically, when large games hit the market and gamers find out that the graphics or performance have been compromised, it means nothing but fake Internet rage for at least three days. Here, I have to applaud Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja for their brutal honesty.

“Hey guys, we’re still working on it. In the meantime, pick your poison!”

What a great little laugh. Thanks, Koei Tecmo. I needed that. Now, be sure to fire up your PlayStation 4 consoles and give the demo a try. I’m not sure if it will be a Game of the Year contender or anything, but these types of games always have their charms.

Nioh will be released for the PlayStation 4 in 2016.
