BlackBerry Priv Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rolling out now

BlackBerry announced on Tuesday that it’s officially rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to unlocked versions of the smartphone purchased directly through ShopBlackBerry.com.

The release follows a very short beta testing period and offers new features in addition to Marshmallow. Those features include:

  • Spark Your Inner Creativity – New slow motion video and 24fps video have been added to the camera to help you capture the perfect image, exactly as you want it, with the quality of a professional and cinematic video.
  • Stay Productive On The Go – With an updated keyboard that provides better predictive typing, accuracy and control, easily text and edit documents on the go. Plus access over 200 new and updated emojis!
  • Connect Easily Anytime, Anywhere – BlackBerry Hub has added more of your favorite apps including Instagram, Skype and Slack, so staying connected has never been simpler. Plus, with the new battery life enhancement update, you can rest easy knowing your PRIV will keep up with your busy social life.
  • Monitor Your Privacy – In a recent BlackBerry poll conducted using Google Consumer Surveys, 51 percent of Android users said that their top security concern is third parties using their personal data. DTEK by BlackBerry allows users to easily control their privacy and added new security alerts when the integrity of your OS has been compromised.

BlackBerry said carrier versions will also get the update but, as we all know, that typically takes a lot of time. Check for a software update on your BlackBerry Priv to get started now.
