Samsung is still testing the Galaxy Note 6 internally, but a bunch of new details may have just leaked out. A new report from GSM Helpdesk claims to reveal most of the hardware inside the latest company’s latest prototype.
The South Korean titan is apparently testing two different versions of the Galaxy Note 6, one with a curved display and one with a classic flat design. However, the company only plans to release one final version of the device. Beyond that one detail, the two prototypes are almost identical.
The Galaxy Note 6 is still at least a few months away, but we may already know which accessories Samsung will offer with its next high-end smartphone. The Galaxy Note 6 is probably going to make its debut sometime in August or September, if I had to guess, since Samsung usually introduces the latest its “Galaxy Note” family during the IFA trade show. Early prediction: the Galaxy Note 6 is going to pack some serious muscle. How do I know? The source backs up earlier rumors that Samsung will go with a 5.8-inch Quad HD display and 6GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 6 also packs a Snapdragon 823 chip or a new Exynos processor, likely depending on the region, along with at least 32GB of expandable storage and Android N software. The device may also offer the same 12-megapixel camera found on the Galaxy S7, but with improved software and new photography features.
The Galaxy Note 6 may also come equipped with a pretty big battery. The source puts it at around 4,000mAh, making it one of the biggest Samsung has even offered in a smartphone.
Samsung apparently plans to launch the Galaxy Note 6 this summer, likely to give it a decent headstart over Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7. But if the company wants its new smartphone to run Android N out of the box then the actual release date may depend on when Google gets around to launching its 7.0 software update.
