Galaxy Note 6 – This is the only spec I care about

The Galaxy Note 6 is probably going to make its debut sometime in August or September, if I had to guess, since Samsung usually introduces the latest its “Galaxy Note” family during the IFA trade show. That occurs in the first week of September this year, though some rumors have suggested it may arrive a bit early. It’ll be an exciting device, for sure, and a new leak earlier this morning pointed to some Galaxy Note 6 specs.

There are plenty of hardware features to note – a rumored Snapdragon 823 chip, 6GB of RAM (dang!) and a huge 5.8-inch Quad HD display. But combine those, add in support for a microSD card slot, a new S Pen and maybe water resistance (all features I’m hoping for) and only one thing really matters to me: what kind of battery Samsung includes.

Look, all of this stuff – the display and processor, plus the apps that will really take advantage of them – are going to suck the battery faster than a marathoner grabbing a cup of water. That’s why I’m digging today’s rumor that it might pack a 4,000mAh battery – the largest in any Note to date. Samsung actually went in the opposite direction last year, moving from a 3,220mAh battery in the Galaxy Note 4 to a 3,000mAh battery in the Galaxy Note 5. It lasted longer in some tests, but I don’t think that’s going to be enough this year.

Note 6 is coming!

Galaxy Note 6: My wishlist for Samsung’s next monster

Early prediction: the Galaxy Note 6 is going to pack some serious muscle. How do I know? Take a look at the previous Galaxy Note devices, the original of which pretty much invented the phablet category. They’re all packed to the gills with the latest hardware available. The Galaxy Note 3 was so appealing back […]

Galaxy Note 6 specs revealed in massive new leak – This phone is going to rock

Samsung is still testing the Galaxy Note 6 internally, but a bunch of new details may have just leaked out. A new report from GSM Helpdesk claims to reveal most of the hardware inside the latest company’s latest prototype. The South Korean titan is apparently testing two different versions of the Galaxy Note 6, one with […]

Galaxy Note 6 accessories revealed way, way early

The Galaxy Note 6 is still at least a few months away, but we may already know which accessories Samsung will offer with its next high-end smartphone. SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Note 6 is slated to get the same premium case options as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, according to some anonymous inside […]

After all, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a much larger 3,600mAh battery. If I’m running my phone hard, I can drain that pretty quickly in a day. The Galaxy Note 6, with its rumored larger display and more powerful processor, will need something even larger.

So let’s hope these rumors are true, and that Samsung goes with a 4,000mAh battery or larger.
