The people have spoken, and they love them some Dark Souls. From niche oddity to “difficulty-curve savior” to full-blown mainstream success, we’ve enjoyed watching this franchise explode into the phenomenon it’s become, taking the good with the bad, and now Bandai Namco is revealing news we love to see.
The company has just confirmed that Dark Souls III has become the”fastest selling title in American branch’s history,” further cementing the legacy of the franchise. Keep in mind that Bandai Namco owns the publishing rights to Dragon Ball Z games and a handful of other popular anime video game licenses. The fact that this pure “gamer’s game” can contend with world-famous multi-media franchises is nothing short of gargantuan.
From Software has hinted that it is ready to move on from both Bloodborne and Dark Souls, so if this is the end of its impressive run, at least it has gone out on a high-note.
In the meantime, can we look forward to Ni-Oh filling in the gaps in our hearts?
