Apple’s 12-inch MacBook is due for an upgrade, and the signs seem to suggest that a refresh could be right around the corner. MacRumors recently noticed that the lightweight laptop is becoming increasingly difficult to buy as the rumored update looms.
Specifically, the year-old MacBook is completely out of stock on Best Buy’s website, suggesting the retail chain is clearing space for a new model. Apple reseller MacMall lists multiple variants of the device as out of stock as well.
MacRumors also points to an OS X leak from earlier this month that revealed plans for a 12-inch MacBook launching in early 2016. If Apple plans to keep that schedule, it will need to reveal the refreshed laptop pretty soon.
Beyond an upgraded 12-inch MacBook, Apple is also expected to launch new 13-inch and 15-inch models with ultra-thin designs in the second half of 2016. It’s possible we could see these laptops unveiled in June at WWDC. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any unexpected announcements in the meantime.
