Apple has opened a handful of new facilities in California to pursue its rumored car project, but it may also have a secret lab in Germany where some of the world’s top carmakers are based. A new report claims the Cupertino company has a secret lab in Berlin where a small team is developing the upcoming vehicle.

By opening a small office in Berlin, Apple has apparently been able to attract some talent from the German auto industry. The secret lab allegedly employs just 15-20 people with backgrounds in engineering, software, hardware and sales. Apple is also apparently partnered with Austrian firm Magna to produce the vehicle.

Finally, the report reiterates claims that Apple will begin production on its first car in 2019 or 2020. Of course, even if the company is ready to unveil a vehicle by then, it could still be a few more years before it actually hits the market.
