Stardew Valley passes 1 million sold copies as the internet gets farmin’

As reported yesterdayEnter the Gungeon has emerged as one of 2016’s “feel good” indie hits on Steam, selling 200,000 copies in its fist week and drawing comparisons to the other major sleeper hit, Stardew Valley.

Today, we have a better understanding of how the farming title is doing as well. About a month and a half after the game first launched on Steam, Publisher Chucklefish Games confirmed with Polygon that Stardew Valley has crossed the 1 million mark.

“It’s actually at 1,007,000 [copies sold] as of now. The success really couldn’t have come to a more deserving person!”

One million copies?! Word of good mouth has really spread for Stardew Valley, but I never imagined that it could have gotten so big! Well deserved success, indeed. It wouldn’t be a stretch to call Stardew Valley my favorite game so far this year, and it’s only promising to get better with the steady flow of free updates.

If you’re not on the farming bandwagon yet, now is the time to do so.
