We’ve known for a while that Titanfall 2 was coming, but we never had an official announcement. A teaser went live today that, while light on info, is finally something official straight from EA and Respawn Entertainment.
It’s a short teaser, but we can pull a couple things from it. The first is that James Macallan, a character from the first Titanfall, is in this game in some capacity. That means Respawn is continuing the story, or what counted as a story, from the original. We also see the Titan, shot from the waist down, stab an impressive blade into the ground, meaning that punching won’t be the only melee option available to titan pilots.
The full reveal is coming just before E3, so it’s just a couple months until we find out more. I’m hoping they’ll craft an actual single player campaign that shows off what made the original so much fun, and that going multi-platform will grow the property’s fanbase enough to keep its multiplayer community alive longer than the original.
We’ll know more once the game is revealed on June 12, but for now we know it’s heading to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
