A lot of news has come from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End over the last day or so thanks to a recent preview event.
Today, we have more of a footnote story for big Uncharted fans that like to explore every nook and cranny the games offer up. Doughnut Drake will not be featured in Uncharted 4.
Speaking with GamesRadar, Creative Director Neil Druckmann explained that “I didn’t want to have a laugh at someone’s expense…I thought we’d matured beyond that.”
Doughnut Drake was actually modelled for the game already, too. Here’s Druckmann again:
“We actually had the whole thing modelled and in there…decided to make the call not to do it….
…we had a big debate about it and kind of approached it from all kinds of angles and decided we weren’t comfortable having it in our game.”
Of course, Naughty Dog is entirely free to do what it wants as a studio. If the team got together and decided Doughnut Drake was too much for the game or the current cultural climate, that’s their call.
I just hope the game is goofy in other ways.
