Xbox 1.5? Not if Phil Spencer has his way

Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division in Microsoft, isn’t down with a half-step for this console generation. The potential Xbox One dot Five, or Xbox 1.5, likely won’t be a thing.

Spencer spoke with Gamespot about incremental upgrades to the Xbox One during its lifespan. The line of questioning likely came after all the rumors about the PlayStation 4K surfaced.

Here’s what Spencer said about the potential Xbox 1.5.

“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers…

…For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people–an upgrade.”

So, the upgrade would need to be “substantial” in order for Spencer to get behind it. That’s logic I agree with.

Xbox Two? Who knows…
