Cumberbatch and Ejiofor seen on set of Doctor Strange in New York

Benedict Cumberbatch was in New York over the weekend, but it wasn’t because he was on vacation. The actor was on the streets of Manhattan filming for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, dressed in the most luxurious cape imaginable. Joining him for his romp through New York City’s streets was Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is playing Baron Mordo. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they just stepped right off the comic’s pages.

It’s unclear what’s happening in the scene being filmed but the two actors appear to be in pursuit of someone—maybe Mads Mikkelsen’s mysterious villain? Either way, it looks like Doctor Strange has been roughed up a bit, and he isn’t happy.

Seeing pictures of actors dressed in such elaborate costumes is hilarious, and fun to see how the final product eventually comes together on film. We saw a lot of pictures from the set of Captain America: Civil War last year, so it’s almost as if we were somehow part of the process.

Doctor Strange is set to be Marvel’s weirdest and most fantastical movie yet, and the studio couldn’t have picked a better actor than Benedict Cumberbatch. Check out the full gallery of images above. The film hits theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
