Verizon brings Marshmallow to Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Verizon has confirmed that it is now rolling out Samsung’s latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The release brings Doze, Google Now on Tap, improvements to TouchWiz, and more.

This is the biggest upgrade the Galaxy S6 series has received since making its debut last spring, and it greatly improves the user experience. Owners can look forward to longer battery life thanks to Doze, and even better performance.

Marshmallow also brings Google Now on Tap to provide you with useful information anywhere, and an easier to understand app permissions system that is very similar to that baked into iOS. Samsung has also made a whole host of improvements to TouchWiz.

That includes a plethora of design changes, and a fix for the RAM management issue that has plagued Galaxy S6 owners for a year. S6 edge owners also get greater edge display functionality, with more customization options.

Like all big Android upgrades, this will rollout in waves, so don’t worry if you don’t see it right away; you should get an update notification in the coming days. You can also check for the update manually from within the software update section in the Settings app.

Have you got Marshmallow on your Verizon Galaxy S6 yet?
